The shoe that fits one person pinches another. There is no one recipe for living that suits all cases.

- Carl Jung

Everyone has their own way of living and their issues to manage and handle. Perhaps, you have tried solving those issues but could not seem to get around them. Do you find yourself running in circles, repeating the same old cycle over and over? Maybe, you feel a lack of connection or motivation, not progressing in the way you wish to. Do you find yourself wanting to pursue a meaning in your life which you have not identify with as yet.

You may or may not have someone close to share your thoughts with. While pouring your woes might help you feel better, it rarely results in a change of the situation you are facing.

The difference in seeking psychotherapy in contrast to confiding to a close one is that psychotherapist is trained to help clients and

there is no baggage weighing on your shoulders when you speak of your issues with neither judgement nor prejudice laid on you and your circumstances. There is also no fear of feeling exposed. More importantly, you could breathe within your personal narrative space and have a professionally trained therapist to journey with you your inner thoughts and emotions. Enduring and suffering in silence, hoping that the issues will go away may not be the best choice since one cannot expect any change to the issue or situation if nothing changes.

While mental health continues to have a certain stigmatisation to it, more people are getting open to discuss and seeking help. A common fallacious assumption is that only people who have mental illness need to seek help and/or seeking therapy is a sign of weakness. However, the truth is that anyone can benefit from psychotherapy sessions.

The therapy process helps one to self-discover, raise self-awareness and ultimately equip one with coping mechanisms when faced with life stressors on how to resolve and manage emotions in a healthier way and improves one's well-being.

The benefits of therapy are many such as finding meaning and purpose to your life, emotional support in a non-judgmental manner and breaking down the issues to focus on the areas to work on as well as empowering you to take control of the direction you wish to move towards. There are many different therapy approaches and tools and each therapy session is customised to individual's circumstances. There is no single recipe.

Life is a journey and while it is not a bed of roses, you can do something about it.
